Q: What is boudoir photography?

Boudoir photography is photographing women to help them embrace their sexuality and femininity. This does involve a state of undress. Whether in beautiful lingerie or nude, your collection includes various images, from detailed photos such as the lips to full body images with the face. Whatever your comfort level is, we will go with it.

Q: Do I have to have hair and makeup done for the boudoir session?

Professional hair and makeup services are included in my sitting fee. Having professional hair and makeup done makes a huge difference in the photos. You can discuss with the artist how much makeup you want. Don’t be afraid to bring a Pinterest board. If you really aren’t comfortable with having hair and makeup done, then we can discuss having you do it yourself.

Q: Is the photographer a female?

Yes! My name is Christal, and I am a woman. I am the only photographer. My family and I live on 5 acres with a small peony farm, a creek, a bunny named Blessing, and my 4 kids.

Q: What is included in the boudoir photoshoot experience?

The sitting fee is $300. This fee includes professional hair and makeup, the session, and appointment ordering. All photos and products are sold separately.

Q: How far in advance should i schedule the session?

I recommend photographing your session at least four-six weeks before you need your product delivered. This will allow enough time for us to do the viewing, editing, retouching, album production, and then the final delivery of the album. So if you have a birthday, anniversary, or other special event coming up…make sure to get your session on the schedule. If you have an emergency and need it done asap let me know. The only issue is that the albums take 4-6 weeks to arrive.

Q: Can I bring a friend along?

No one is allowed to be at the session unless we are doing a wet session and your friend wants to be a helping hand for that small portion of the shoot. No husbands, boyfriends, or partners.

Q: What if I'm on my period?

I do my best to schedule around that. I have my own hormonal issues, so I know that sometimes it can be unpredictable. If you are getting closer to the shoot day and expecting it to start during your scheduled time, please call and reschedule. I can be flexible, but I do ask that we reschedule if you are on your period.

Q: Do you photograph men's or couples’ boudoir sessions?

I do not. I love photographing women!

Q: I am insecure about cellulite, stretchmarks, acne, and tattoos. Can you get rid of it?

A: We all have insecurities! If you discuss what bothers you, I can let you know what can be done about them. I can use outfit choices, lighting, posing, and retouching to do my best to conceal those things. Please know that talking to me about these things is essential before the shoot. Finally, I do my best to keep editing natural, but there are some things I can do in editing to minimize the things you might be insecure about.

Q: Where will the boudoir session take place?

Your boudoir session will occur in my downtown Palmer, AK studio. It is located in the Evergreen Building. It is beautiful and clean, with lots of natural light. I also have high-quality studio lighting for those overcast and dark Alaska days! I am available and open to photograph in other locations. If you want to do it somewhere else, then my client must pay for it if it is a rental. During the summer, I am open to shooting outdoors.

Q: What do I wear?

You will be sent a preparation guide, which provides lots of inspiration to make your session go smoothly. It will give you lots of great advice on what to wear and what to expect.

Q: Do I have to get naked?

You do not have to get naked during your boudoir shoot. This session is all about you, and I want you to be comfortable every step of the way.

Q: Will you retouch my boudoir photos?

I do, but I try to keep it as natural as possible. You just polished. I don't edit out scars or stretch marks unless my client asks for that. I do some light skin softening and blemish removal.

Q: When will I see the images?

Before you leave the studio, I will set up an appointment for your viewing and ordering appointment. I can do this at my studio, or if you are located further out in Alaska, we can do it on Zoom.

During the viewing and ordering appointment, you will select the photos you want to purchase, we will design your album, and you’ll pay for your final purchase.

Q: Is a boudoir session right for me?

Yes! This is the photoshoot you deserve. Just don’t put it off. I can’t tell you how many women put it off to lose 10, 20, or 30 lbs. You are gorgeous the way you are! If you lose a lot of weight and want to do another one, we can! But I promise you it’s worth it; you are worth it. You deserve to be pampered regardless of age, size, and shape. I can promise you that everyone I photograph has insecurities, so I understand. If there is something that you don’t want me to photograph, I can do my best to minimize that. I’ll accentuate the things you love.

Q: I don’t know how to look sexy or pose.

I will guide you through every pose, even showing you how to do it first. Nobody knows how to pose when they come in for a shoot. But I will guide you every step of the way.

Q: Can I reschedule if I can’t make my shoot date?

You can reschedule at no charge if you do so 48 hours in advance. However, I have a hair and makeup artist who I have to pay whether or not you show up. So, if you are a no-show for your scheduled time, you forfeit your hair and makeup deposit, and you will then be required to pay another deposit if you decide to book another session time.

Q: Will my photos be posted online?

I take the privacy of my boudoir clients seriously. I will never post photos that show your face without permission. I must have photos to share for my portfolio, so even if it’s just one or two photos you approve of me sharing, that would be great.

Q: I am plus size. Should I still do a shoot?

Queen, YES!!! I photograph women of all shapes and sizes. Every woman deserves to feel beautiful in their body. Your weight should never be a reason to put off a boudoir session.

Q: I am a lot older than most women on your website. Should I still do a shoot?

I photograph women of all ages; every woman deserves to feel beautiful at any age. Let me show you how beautiful you are! We can customize the session to whatever you want. Maybe you don’t want to be in lingerie, and we can have you in some of your favorite outfits instead.

Q: Where are you located?

My studio is on the second floor of a building in downtown Palmer, Alaska. It’s very safe, private, and secure.
